Our corporate culture employs solutions-based approaches to everyday problems involving group work and team building. What makes you most proud about working for Manitowoc? The fact that the efforts that are put forth on a daily basis make a difference in the world. We are not just building and repairing cranes in the Manitowoc Crane Group. We are solving world-wide energy issues and building bridges that are connecting people, products and services. What attracted you to a career with Manitowoc? Quite honestly, the people who work for the company attracted me to a career at Manitowoc. They are some of the best and most committed people to their passion for excellence. The opportunity to travel abroad was also a deciding factor when accepting the position with the Manitowoc Company. What do you like most about your job at Manitowoc? I most enjoy the variety of work that comes with the parts and service-side of our business. Each day I face something that I have never come across before. Having gone through Six Sigma training provides the tools necessary to logically approach the challenges. Which achievements are you most proud of? I´m most proud of my efforts in building the purchasing team from scratch. Through diligent efforts and support from upper management, we were able to recruit highly professional individuals who had the necessary skill sets to advance the purchasing function in order to achieve positive year over year growth for our company. Were your family/friends supportive of your decision to join Manitowoc? My family and friends have been very supportive, as the work days can become very long. With the travel requirements that come with the job, my family´s support has been vital to the success I have experienced since my hire in 2004. What information would you most like to share with a potential Manitowoc employee? The Manitowoc Company offers significant opportunities for career advancement, as long as you are willing to put forth the efforts. You can work with people in a positive manner and have a strong work ethic. What do you receive from the company in return for the contributions you make to your team/dept/company? The obvious being, of course, a paycheck; however, it doesn´t stop there. In return for the contributions made to the purchasing team, the Crane CARE division and The Manitowoc Company as a whole, I receive job satisfaction that extends beyond the paycheck. I have pride in the fact that my contributions are making a difference. People in my department are happy. They are committed to the internal and external customers that they serve. This makes me feel very good that people that I work with and the people that report to me, are happy and like their job. What are some of the things that make Manitowoc a successful company? People with strong leadership skills who are committed to the future of the company, and are taking proactive approaches to ensure that The Manitowoc Company is a front runner in the various industries it serves. Financial strength and a committed Board of Directors who are also steering the future of the company in a positive direction. Where do you see yourself with the company in 5 years? I believe that Training and Development is an emerging field and would like to pursue this area of advancement because I love working with people and feel that a well-trained employee is a happy employee. What career development opportunities have you been able to participate in at Manitowoc? I have been given the opportunity to receive Six Sigma Green Belt training. I have also participated in several Global Procurement Council meetings and training events. In the future, I would like to pursue the Accelerated Leadership Development Process (ALDP) training. What additional comments would you like to share with someone considering employment with Manitowoc? The Manitowoc Company has many divisions around the world. The successful candidate will possess the desire to gain work experience globally. |
