Ahmed has joined Manitowoc as VIE in 2006. His first job was Junior Sales Manager for Tower Cranes. He was in charge of development and the follow-up and of Potain tower cranes sales in the Arab countries of the Middle-East (Egypt, Near-East, Arabian Peninsula, Iraq) mainly through local distributors or agents. Ahmed speaks both French and Arabic and is fluent in English and Dutch. He studied engineering and business in France
What are the key factors in a VIE mission’s success ?
The passion for the job itself is the key to success in this mission and in any VIE program in general. Nevertheless, the most challenging part is to know our products which are very technical. So, having a technical background is really helpful to start in this business. Moreover, a sense of adventure and good communication skills are critical to success in this position.
What is the manager’s role?
The manager’s role is essential in training and coaching the VIE. Building a trust-based relationship reinforces the VIE’s motivation in the long term.
