Manitowoc launches another big Potain crane from its China factory
The Potain MCR 815 luffing jib crane has a 64 t maximum capacity – twice that of the current largest luffing jib crane from the Company’s Zhangjiagang, China factory.
The 70 m jib can be luffed to an out-of-service radius of just 16 m, making it ideal for congested jobsites.
A powerful new winch offers line speeds of up to 185 m/min with a 2.3 t load.

In a ceremony at bauma 2019 in Munich Germany Manitowoc honored southern Africa’s CLT (Crane Load Technology) as a top EMEA dealer for parts sales. Astrid Hager-Guthrie parts sales and marketing manager for Manitowoc presented Warren Wells general manager of technical at CLT with a celebratory plaque to mark the occasion.
Manitowoc held a special ceremony for crane sales and rental company MATEBAT at bauma 2019 in Munich Germany. MATEBAT won the “Largest Potain Rental fleet in Europe-Africa ” having amassed a fleet of 1 200 cranes.
Potain and KIL (Korea International Ltd.) have celebrated more than 40 years of partnership together during a special ceremony at bauma 2019 in Munich Germany. KIL has prestigiously remained South Korea’s sole Potain tower crane distributor since 1975.
Manitowoc held a customer recognition ceremony for Shinwoo Development Co. at bauma 2019 in Munich Germany. Barry Pennypacker president and CEO of Manitowoc Cranes presented the South Korean company with a celebratory plaque for the occasion and expressed gratitude to Shinwoo Development Co. president I.H. Kim for the company’s contribution to the success of Potain tower cranes in the region.
Manitowoc has recognized its longstanding dealer Kranark during bauma 2019. Founded in 2013 Kranark provides both the sale rental and superior service of Grove cranes to companies across Russia.
Manitowoc has officially launched for North America its biggest Grove Hydraulic Crawler (GHC) crane the new GHC140. It’s the latest in a long line of telescoping crawler cranes with enhanced features and best-in-class load charts.
Manitowoc has greatly expanded its service and support offerings and is featuring them at bauma 2019. At booths FS 1201 FS 1202 und FS 1302/1 the company is calling attention to a diverse portfolio of tools and services that bolster its crane and technologies lineup.
Towering over the Manitowoc stand at bauma 2019 is the new Potain MDT 809 the largest topless crane ever built by the manufacturer. While delivering unprecedented lift capacity and reach the new crane also boasts an advanced design that provides reduced operating costs and easier assembly for owners.
In 2018 Manitowoc’s factory in Niella Tanaro Italy boosted production of Grove rough-terrain cranes to better serve customers in Europe Africa the Middle East and Asia-Pacific and this enhanced capability is highlighted at bauma 2019. The company is showing two rough-terrain cranes at the exhibition a 100 t capacity GRT8100 and a 51 t capacity GRT655L. The GRT8100 on show was built at the Italian plant while Manitowoc plans to start building the GRT655L there in future.
The new Potain Hup C 40-30 is unique to Manitowoc’s Potain self-erecting tower crane line. This crane is from the groundbreaking Hup range and is enhanced with crawler tracks for ultimate mobility on job sites with challenging terrain (hence the “C” in the model’s name).
Potain has previewed its first mobile Hup self-erecting crane the Hup M 28-22 at bauma 2019. The Hup M 28-22 is the third model from the groundbreaking Hup self-erecting crane range but the first to prioritize mobility.
At bauma 2019 Manitowoc launches an impressive new unit in the five-axle category and two new three-axle models. Andreas Cremer global product director for all-terrain cranes at Manitowoc said the launch of the new models underlines the company’s increased speed of product development under The Manitowoc Way and its ongoing commitment to building cranes that offer outstanding return on investment.
