Grove and National Crane to show utility prowess at ICUEE 2017

Manitowoc Cranes will showcase a trio of cranes that thrive in utilities applications at the International Construction and Utility Equipment Exposition 2017 (ICUEE). At outdoor booth N2021 the company will highlight the Grove GHC30 telescoping crawler crane and a pair of National Crane boom trucks: the NBT45-1 and 890D. All three machines will be outfitted with special attachments to better show their effectiveness in the utilities market and two of them — the GHC30 and NBT45-1 — will be shown at ICUEE for the first time.

Manitowoc fleet raises the roof at new Bucks arena

Construction of a new $524 million multi-purpose arena is underway in downtown Milwaukee and a fleet of Manitowoc crawler cranes is handling its most crucial lifting work. Dubbed the Wisconsin Entertainment and Sports Center the arena will replace the aging Bradley Center and serve as the new home of the Milwaukee Bucks.

Grove crane brings mobility and smooth operation to challenging airport lift

La Grange Crane used a Grove GMK5275 all-terrain crane to build an underground water detention system in Rosemont Illinois near O’Hare International Airport. The 275 USt crane lifted a series of 9 USt precast segments to construct the system which will keep stormwater runoff under control for a planned commercial development.

Kranark features Grove all-terrain crane at Russian open house event

Manitowoc’s newest Grove distributor in Russia Kranark hosted a Grove open house event in June that showcased a Grove GMK6300L one of the world’s best-selling all-terrain cranes to several of the country’s most important lifting companies and government officials. The event was held at Kranark’s St. Petersburg headquarters and in addition to several Russian lifting companies it attracted members of the Ministry of Emergency Situations a Russian government department responsible for providing rapid emergency response.

Potain tower cranes construct massive new resort in Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah

A fleet of 10 Potain MR 418 tower cranes is helping construct a massive new project: the Royal Atlantis Resort and Residences which is located on the crescent of the Palm Jumeirah island in Dubai United Arab Emirates. Potain business partner Abu Dhabi-based NFT supplied the cranes on a rental contract to the joint venture (JV) building the development. The JV is made up of two contractors—the Belgium-based BESIX and South Korea’s SsangYong Engineering & Construction—and the project marks the first time that MR 418 cranes have been used in the UAE.

Bolivia’s first Grove GMK6400 arrived in March and it has already taken on some major construction projects in the country. Alanoca a transport and logistics company based in El Alto added the crane to its rental fleet and put it right to work supplying it to several contractors for a wide array of projects.

Barge-mounted MLC300 brings enhanced stability to Illinois bridge replacement

When the Manitowoc MLC300 crawler crane debuted with Variable Position Counterweight (VPC) and VPC-MAX heavy lift attachment one of its unique selling points was the crane’s barge-lifting capabilities. The reduced footprint and floating counterweight meant that it would be much more efficient for lifters to barge-mount a crawler crane. Contracting teams could erect the crane onto smaller water-based barges because the machine automatically adjusts its center of gravity for each lift.

Petro-Sea Logistics a joint venture between Belgium’s Sea-Invest and Ivory Coast’s Petroci began buying Grove all-terrain cranes in 2016 and that trend continues in 2017 with the addition of a GMK5180-1. The company made the switch from another brand’s all-terrain range and hasn’t turned back thanks in part to the reliability of new Grove models and especially for the aftermarket service that Manitowoc provides the company.
