New Potain MCR 295 and prototype MCH 120 displayed at bauma China 2016

Manitowoc used bauma China 2016 to highlight its industry-leading innovation with the presentation of two new tower crane models: the prototype MCH 120 which is still in development and the MCR 295 which is now commercially available. The company will release further details on the striking new MCH 120 a topless luffing jib crane in due course.

Sir Robert McAlpine works on prestigious project at Wimbledon

Leading UK construction and civil engineering company Sir Robert McAlpine has secured a contract to install a retractable roof for No.1 Court at the world’s most prestigious tennis tournament Wimbledon. To help complete the project the company acquired four new Potain MR 608 cranes at the beginning of August with work for the units starting in September.

Potain MDT 98 plays a role in Verona Arena production

A Potain MDT 98 tower crane was used at the famed Verona Arena in Italy to change theatrical sets between productions for its entire 2016 opera season. Verona Italy-based Toffoli Macchine rented the 6 t crane for the project which had the crane use its 55 m jib radius to reach over the arena’s walls and assemble sets during the day. By night the crane helped dismantle the scenery. The MDT 98 replaced a Potain GTMR 386 B that was formerly used for this job for 15 years.

National Crane launches dual-rated NBT40-1 Series

New from National Crane is the NBT40-1 Series of boom trucks that are available with an aerial lift configuration. When equipped with this aerial package this series of three new models—the NBT36-1 the NBT40-1 and the NBT45-1—is aimed at the utility market and will enable companies to perform both crane lifting and aerial lift projects more efficiently with just one machine. For the core crane markets this updated series of cranes will continue to provide the performance customers expect from National Crane.

First Potain Igo 50 for rent in the Philippines as appeal widens

Manitowoc’s office in the Philippines has added a Potain Igo 50 to its rental fleet as interest in self-erecting cranes continues to grow in the country. For decades self-erecting cranes have been popular in Europe and North America for short-term jobs typically lasting six months or so. Their working height capacity flexible configuration and easy transportation make them perfect for applications such as house-building or other low-to-medium height projects.

Potain introduces Tower Crane Partner Development Program for Latin American dealers

Manitowoc hosted a meeting for Latin America’s tower crane dealers in Panama in September to examine crane market opportunities and strategize over the best ways to address the region’s lifting challenges. Approximately 30 representatives from every Potain dealer in Latin America attended the event what will now become an annual gathering.
