Busy start for two new Grove GMK4100L-2 cranes at UK rental company
- Dewsbury & Proud has a long relationship with Grove, having purchased cranes from the company for over 40 years.

Two new Grove GMK4100L-2 cranes have joined the fleet of UK rental company Dewsbury & Proud, covering a host of projects in their first few months. Projects have ranged from work inside water treatment facilities to bridge maintenance, support at quarries, steel erecting, road building, and more.
“We’ve owned a few generations of the four-axle, 100 t Grove all-terrain cranes, and these latest GMK4100L-2 models are great,” said Jack Proud at Dewsbury & Proud. “They’re compact machines, but they’ve also got a 60 m main boom, so we can send them to projects where other cranes can’t access. That gives us more flexibility and keeps their utilization high.”
With an upturn in demand for its services, Dewsbury & Proud took the decision to add the two versatile GMK4100L-2 cranes to cover as many projects as possible. And they are delivering the kind of reliable performance Dewsbury & Proud have come to expect from over four decades of Grove ownership.
To allow the cranes to cover as many projects as possible, Dewsbury & Proud makes use of Grove’s unique features and equipment. These include the MAXbase™ variable outrigger positioning system; a heavy-duty jib to enable lifting in restricted headroom; a fully hydraulic luffing jib, and more.
One of the cranes is based at the Dewsbury & Proud head office in Wolverhampton, in UK’s West Midlands, while the other operates further south, out of the company’s Coventry depot. The company also has facilities in Loughborough and Stoke-on-Trent. Dewsbury & Proud is a family-owned company founded in 1977 with a rental fleet of 50 cranes and 80 staff. Other Grove cranes in the fleet include GMK2035, GMK3060L, GMK4080-1, GMK5150L-1, and GMK5250XL-1 cranes.
