First look in Italy Grove’s latest cranes headline Manitowoc’s GIS EXPO 2025 lineup
- Grove is showing two rough-terrain cranes and one all-terrain crane at the show–all three making their Italian debuts.
- Manitowoc will focus on total lifecycle support for its Manitowoc, Grove, and Potain customers, highlighting an expanded portfolio of digital tools, maintenance components, and its enhanced EnCORE™ program.
Grove will feature a variety of all-terrain and rough-terrain cranes at this year’s GIS EXPO that have never been shown in Italy. GIS EXPO 2025 marks the 10th anniversary of the Italian tradeshow that is aimed at the lifting, industrial, port handling, and heavy transport industries. The event takes place in Piacenza, Italy, September 25-27.
The Grove GRT550, GRT780 – both built at Manitowoc’s Italian factory in Niella Tanaro – and GMK6450-1 will all be on display at the Manitowoc booth, F12-H27, on the outdoor grounds.
- Grove GRT550: With a 50 t capacity and class-leading 39 m five-section boom (49 m tip height with 8 m extension), the Grove GRT550 offers improved load charts, faster 155 m/min line speed, and 5,552 kg line pull. It remains road-legal across Europe under 29 t GVW, and is easy to transport thanks to a vehicle width of just 2.55 m. Upgrades include Site Steering, MAXbase™, a redesigned cab with improved visibility and comfort, and technician-friendly service access supported by Grove CONNECT™ and oCSI diagnostics.
- Grove GRT780: The 80 t Grove GRT780 rough-terrain crane features a five-section MEGAFORM™ boom spanning 11.9 m – 47.3 m, with a bi-fold swingaway jib extending reach to 67 m. Built for productivity, it includes MAXbase™ variable outrigger positioning, Grove CONNECT™ telematics, a 12-in CCS 1+ touchscreen, oCSI diagnostics, and a full-vision tilting cab — all packed into a narrow, maneuverable frame with optional hydraulic counterweight removal. The crane’s carrier is less than 3 m wide, and its Gross Vehicle Weight is 46.6 t with a full spec, or less than 43 t with the base machine.
- Grove GMK6450-1: The 450 t GMK6450-1 all-terrain crane has a 60 m five-section main boom and MegaWingLift™ attachment that boosts capacity by up to 70% on the main boom (and by up to 400% with luffing jib). It lifts 8.9 t at 50 m radius with a 79 m jib (136 m tip height); or 12.8 t between 36 m and 52 m radius with a 67 m jib. MAXbase™, CCS, and a faster hydraulic system enhance jobsite flexibility and speed, allowing this powerful six-axle crane to handle lifts typically reserved for seven- or eight-axle machines.
“GIS is now the premier lifting equipment show for the Italian market and one of the biggest specialized crane events in Europe. Manitowoc is featuring another strong display with our latest advanced rough-terrain crane technology from Niella Tanaro and the strongest all-terrain crane on six axles, which is already establishing itself as one of Italy’s favorite heavy-lift cranes. It should be a great show and we’re looking forward to meeting as many customers as possible,” said Enrico Angiolini, regional sales director for Manitowoc in Italy.
This year’s exhibit also highlights Manitowoc’s growing commitment to supporting customers throughout the full lifecycle of crane ownership. New components will be shown that extend the life of key systems, helping customers protect their investment and maximize long-term ROI. An emphasis on digital platforms like Grove CONNECT™ will demonstrate how the Company is enhancing fleet oversight and maintenance scheduling, while there will be information showcasing how dealer support and training initiatives ensure technical expertise remains readily accessible.
Manitowoc will also feature its EnCORE™ program that provides access to used, and fully refurbished equipment, offering flexible solutions for fleet expansion or renewal. Collectively, these efforts underscore Manitowoc’s emphasis on long-term reliability and customer partnership.
“Whether you’re looking for the latest in lifting technology or long-term fleet support, we want every customer who visits our booth to see how Grove and Manitowoc are delivering real-world solutions — not just for today’s job, but for the years ahead,” said Matteo Camilla, regional service manager for mobile cranes for Manitowoc in Italy.
