Greving cuts project time in half with Grove GMK6300

German crane rental company Greving used its new Grove GMK6300 for the demolition and replacement of six agricultural silos for farming company Haneburg & Leusing.

The company allotted two weeks to finish the job but the GMK6300 completed it in just one week. The crane went directly from the Manitowoc factory in Wilhelmshaven to the job site in Ostbevern some 160 km away.

“The GMK6300 has excellent proven lifting capabilities ” said Andreas Greving one of the owners of Greving. “Our operator said this crane has extremely smooth functions and is easy to rig. Both helped us finish this project ahead of schedule.

“We have experience with these demolition and replacement projects. But we were still impressed with how quickly we finished.”

For the silo job Greving used the crane with 53 m of luffing jib on a 43 m main boom. Each silo measured 15 m in diameter by 30 m tall and weighed 6 t. Most were lifted at 64 m radius.

The GMK6300 is a 300 t capacity crane with a 60 m main boom and a maximum tip height of 113 m. Greving purchased its GMK6300 with 61 m of luffing jib and 51 m of fixed jib. KranAgentur Werner Manitowoc’s agent for Germany handled the sale. Staff from KranAgentur Werner traveled with staff from Greving to Wilhelmshaven for the official handover of the crane.

Greving is a family-run business with headquarters in Ahaus northwest Germany. It has 30 cranes in its fleet that range up to 350 t capacity and are spread across 10 regional offices.

In addition to crane services the company operates a 24-hour demolition service and a transport business with 30 trucks.
