Manitowoc displays full range of capabilities at CTT 2014
Economic uncertainty in Russia means companies are looking to brands with strong reputations – both in terms of a stable history and high quality product as Jean-Claude Doucene Manitowoc’s commercial director for Russia and CIS countries explains.
“We have worked in these markets for many years and established ourselves as a loyal and stable partner to many businesses ” he says. “The quality of our cranes and services is world-renowned and give people confidence in our capabilities. Although the political landscape is somewhat uncertain at present we remain committed to our customers here and are determined to expand and develop in this market.”
At CTT 2014 Manitowoc presented an 8 t capacity MDT 178 tower crane from Potain with full 60 m jib. This was positioned above a 4 t capacity Igo 50 self-erecting crane. Both cranes are among Potain’s most popular units in the region. The Potain MDT 178 is often used in high-rise construction and features a hoist with a winch drum capacity of up to 634 m.
Manitowoc’s mobile crane brand Grove was also well represented at CTT. From its all-terrain range the company showed a Grove GMK5130-2. The 130 t capacity crane was equipped with Manitowoc’s super cool package which allows it to work down to -40 degrees centigrade – particularly useful at isolated energy projects which are a popular application for GMK cranes across the region.
The other Grove crane at CTT was an RT550E rough-terrain crane which offers the highest capacity and longest boom in its class at 39 m. The crane which features Manitowoc’s easy-to-use Crane Control System was also fitted with a cold package for conditions down to -29 degrees centigrade.
As standard the MDT 178 Potain tower crane and both Grove cranes are equipped with CraneSTAR Manitowoc’s groundbreaking telematics system. CraneSTAR provides detailed real time crane fleet information to engineers and operators regardless of location.
Reinforcing its complete range of services the company’s funding arm Manitowoc Finance had a strong presence at CTT. The financial support service together with local financial partners offered special rates to customers at the show.
As well as its direct sales and support services Manitowoc works closely with its seven dealers in Russia and CIS countries who supply its full range of Potain tower cranes Grove mobile cranes and Manitowoc crawler cranes.
