Manitowoc showcases hybrid innovation, crane versatility and enhanced customer support at Vertikal Days 2026

  • The Grove GMK5150XLe Plug-in Hybrid all-terrain was shown in the colors of its first UK customer, Bryn Thomas Cranes.
  • Customer support displays highlighted Manitowoc’s aftermarket and lifecycle support, while the booth was shared with MGX Equipment Services, which launched in the UK earlier this year.

Manitowoc put hybrid technology, crane versatility, and comprehensive customer support firmly in the spotlight at Vertikal Days 2026, with the Grove GMK5150XLe Plug-in Hybrid all-terrain crane appearing in the colors of its first UK customer.

Emission-free operation with diesel flexibility

The GMK5150XLe Plug-in Hybrid all-terrain crane delivers emissions-free operation while maintaining the flexibility and mobility customers expect from a traditional diesel engine. The 160 kWh battery system reduces emissions and noise, while an integrated 170 kW generator and on-the-move charging capability provide the flexibility required for demanding mobile crane applications. It has a 68.7 m main boom and a 150 t maximum capacity and visitors saw the crane in the colors of its new UK owner Bryn Thomas Cranes.

Also on the stand was the Grove GMK4090-1. Combining strong lift performance with compact dimensions, the 90 t all-terrain crane is well-suited to jobsites where access and positioning are critical. Its compact size allows it to work in confined areas while retaining the load charts and flexibility expected from a Grove. The unit at Vertikal Days will be delivered to Leach Structural Steelwork after the event.

Efficiency-boosting products from Potain

Manitowoc also presented a number of aftermarket products from Potain designed to boost crane operations. These included anti-intrusion kits to protect cranes from vandalism, GRIPPS® safety packs, and autonomous crane urinals to improve the comfort of operators and the cleanliness of machines.
The range of customer support products and aftermarket displays demonstrate how Manitowoc is helping customers maximize machine availability and extend the productive life of cranes. The displays covered parts, service, support, and other lifecycle solutions, reinforcing Manitowoc’s focus on supporting customers beyond the initial equipment purchase.

Debut for MGX Equipment Services

Sharing the booth was MGX Equipment Services, which launched in the UK in July 2026 as a dedicated aftermarket service provider supporting all crane brands. Through locations in Buckingham and Barnsley, MGX delivers nationwide parts availability, field service support, inspections, and technical expertise to help customers keep equipment operating at peak performance.

“It was great to meet customers, colleagues, and partners at Vertikal Days 2026, and highlight our products and services focused on helping crane owners get stronger returns from their machines. Manitowoc is driving change and supporting business as UK construction and infrastructure continue to advance,” said Pier Domenico Ravera, general manager for Manitowoc in the UK and VP of mobile crane sales in Europe.

Vertikal Days took place September 9-10 at the Newark Showground, bringing together lift and access professionals, manufacturers, rental companies, contractors, and fleet owners.
