National Crane a major presence at TCI Expo 2012

Despite being held in Baltimore Md. only days after Hurricane Sandy rocked the East Coast of the United States TCI Expo 2012 was still a major success. National Crane was at the event hosted by the Tree Care Industry Association and although attendance was down in the storm’s wake excitement was as high as ever.

National Crane has been attending the TCI Expo for several years and 2012 marked the second time it featured a crane in the show. The company exhibited a 1400A boom truck a product that is becoming synonymous with tree care. The displayed crane was delivered to H&E Equipment one of the largest Manitowoc dealers in the U.S. The company sold the crane quickly after the Expo.

“We felt it was a great opportunity to showcase the crane’s capabilities in the tree industry plus reinforce our own company’s presence to our existing customers and attract new customers ” said John Brockway senior vice president of H&E Equipment.

The use of the 1400A boom truck has steadily grown in the tree care industry over the last few years. It features a 29.9 t
(33 USt) lift capacity but packs the power into a truck-size chassis making it extremely maneuverable both on the job site and from job-to-job. Its five-section 127 ft boom is the best in its class enabling operators to reach tall tree tops with ease.

Sachin Mohan vice president of marketing and corporate relations for TCIA said cranes such as the 1400A are a welcome innovation for the tree care industry.

“The use of cranes and boom trucks for tree care has become popular throughout the Northeast of the U.S. and is beginning to spread to other regions too ” he said.

In all some 2 600 attendees and 180 exhibitors made it to the event. Mohan reports that folks from storm-ravaged New York and New Jersey began pouring in on the last two days of the event some even looking to purchase cranes to help with the cleanup. The event was such a success that National Crane has already reserved its booth for TCI Expo 2013.
