New Potain MCT 105 topless tower crane in the spotlight at EXCON 2025

Manitowoc made a commanding impression at EXCON 2025 with the unveiling of the Potain MCT 105, the newest topless tower crane in its lineup. Drawing widespread attention from contractors, industry experts, and media, the launch underscored Manitowoc’s ongoing commitment to innovation and efficiency in lifting technology.

Manufactured at Manitowoc’s facility in Pune, India, the MCT 105 H5 builds on the proven design and erection principles of the MCT 85. It delivers greater reach with a longer jib and increased lifting capacity tailored to the evolving needs of today’s construction sites. With a maximum capacity of 5 t and the ability to lift 1 t at the tip of its 60 m jib, the MCT 105 offers exceptional performance and versatility. Its freestanding height of up to 46.1 m and compact footprint make it especially well-suited for dense urban environments and high-rise developments.

A key highlight of the MCT 105 is its transport efficiency. The entire top-slewing assembly, including the 60 m jib, can be delivered in just four truckloads or containers—significantly reducing logistics costs and setup time.

The crane also shares several components with the widely adopted MCT 85, including the 4 D3V3 trolley winch, which delivers travel speeds up to 8 m/min with a 50Hz power supply. Optional hoist systems offer speeds up to 105 m/min and a 500 m drum capacity, ensuring adaptability across a broad range of applications.

“As construction projects increasingly demand broader coverage with compact equipment, the MCT 105’s enhanced load chart and transportability will be a major asset across India and other emerging markets. It’s a game-changer for projects requiring extended jib lengths and efficient setup,” said Chris Eastham, General Manager of Manitowoc’s Pune, India facility.

The launch event featured live crane demonstrations, technical briefings, and interactive sessions with Manitowoc’s engineering and product teams. Attendees praised the MCT 105’s performance, intelligent design, and versatility.
