upFLEX launches to deliver load management upgrade to Grove crane owners

• The upFLEX Rated Capacity Limiter (RCL) was presented by Manitowoc at the CONEXPO CON/AGG 2026 exhibition earlier this year and has been launched to market.
• upFLEX is an improved load management system to replace older iFLEX models in Grove cranes, allowing customers to reap the benefits of proven machines while harnessing the latest technology.

The new upFLEX Rated Capacity Limiter (RCL) from Manitowoc has been launched to market. It’s an improved version of the iFLEX RCL units which featured on Grove rough-terrain and truck cranes built between 2002 and 2023, and is now available for purchase through Manitowoc’s global dealer network. With upFLEX, owners of older Grove mobile cranes can update to the latest lift management technology, and Manitowoc estimates some 13,000 machines could be eligible for upgrade.

upFLEX features a sleek, modern design with a 7 in. console and intuitive controls that enable the operator to cycle through working screens and operating modes. The system works across a full range of Grove rough-terrain and truck cranes previously covered by older iFLEX models. This standardization brings consistency and efficiency to operators’ work. Installation is simplified, too, with the RCL connecting directly to the crane’s CAN-BUS via the on-board Ethernet. The system is truly plug-and-play, reducing installation hassle and benefiting operators by providing the same look and feel in an upgraded system.

The new upFLEX RCL replaces the iFLEX5 (LI5G), iFLEX5 (CGMK), and iFLEX2 (LSQG). Customers interested in purchasing a new upFLEX system can do so via their local Grove dealer.
