Full Manitowoc Crane range on display at CONEXPO 2011

Manitowoc Cranes highlighted a number of impressive engineering and design developments at its CONEXPO 2011 booth. Visitors saw the largest rough-terrain crane currently in production a team of best-in-class six-axle all-terrain cranes as well as some of the industry’s most advanced boom truck controls. A completely refurbished Model 888 crawler crane was also on display.

Larry Weyers executive vice president for Manitowoc in the Americas said the company’s booth attracted widespread attention as several cranes were new to North American visitors.

“Cranes from Grove Manitowoc National Crane and Potain were on display in our booth and many appeared in front of the general industry in North America for the first time ” he said. “With our primary end markets beginning to show positive signs of recovery we are particularly encouraged by the energy and infrastructure sectors. Visitors to our CONEXPO booth saw cranes that are perfect for those markets.”

The largest crane on the booth was the Manitowoc 16000 crawler crane which featured a new wind attachment. This crane has been one of the most popular cranes for wind turbine erection in North America in recent years. The wind attachment offers 16000 owners greater flexibility and versatility to erect larger wind turbines and thereby increases the usefulness and value of their fleets.

From Manitowoc’s
Grove brand there were two six-axle all-terrain cranes — the GMK6300L and the GMK6400. The GMK6300L has a 262 ft main boom the longest in its class. The GMK6400 with a capacity is 450 USt is the strongest all-terrain crane on six axles.

Two Grove rough-terrain cranes were also on stand. The Grove RT9150E which is the largest rough-terrain crane currently in production has a 150 USt capacity and a 197 ft main boom.

The Potain MCT 88 was also at CONEXPO. It has the ability to set up quickly and be configured to suit many different applications. The MCT 88 is the largest crane in the City Topless range with a 5.5 USt maximum capacity. Also on display was the Potain Igo 42 self-erecting crane. This crane has a 4.4 USt capacity and is available with a 118 ft or 105 ft jib.

Another Potain branded product on the Manitowoc booth that attracted attention was the Ultra View cab which was located at ground level allowing visitors to get a first-hand feel of its excellent visibility comfort and ergonomic layout.

Cranes from Manitowoc’s YardBoss industrial crane range and National Crane boom truck line rounded out the product offering on the Manitowoc booth. The industrial crane range was co-branded as a Shuttlelift CD7725 and Grove YB7725 the largest capacity crane in the YardBoss range with a 25 USt maximum capacity.

From National Crane the 55 USt NBT55 boom truck was also displayed —the largest boom truck in the line. And displayed for the first time was the NBT30H a 30 USt capacity boom truck.

Manitowoc Crane Care the company’s customer service brand had displays inside the booth and displayed a Manitowoc 888 crawler crane outside on the stand. Manitowoc Crane Care and H&E Equipment Services through the EnCORE Partners program completely refurbished the lower works. This is one of Manitowoc’s newest initiatives to help customers reduce cost of ownership.
