Wagenborg Nedlift makes strong addition to the fleet with a new Grove GMK5250XL-1 for projects in Germany and the Netherlands
- The new Grove GMK5250XL-1 impresses with its long main boom, compact dimensions, VIAB turbo retarder clutch, and interchangeable counterweight slabs.
- It was handed over at the Manitowoc facility in Breda in the Netherlands and is now working across Germany and the Netherlands, offering efficiency, flexibility, and future-ready capabilities.
Wagenborg Nedlift has received a 250 t Grove GMK5250XL-1 all-terrain crane. The addition helps Wagenborg Nedlift modernize its fleet with a leading-edge machine offering enhanced operator comfort, a long main boom, compact design, and a VIAB turbo retarder clutch for wear-free starting, braking, plus accurate maneuvering.
The GMK5250XL-1 features a 78.5 m main boom, providing exceptional reach. Thanks to its long boom, the need for a bi-fold swingaway jib can often be avoided – simplifying logistics and reducing costs. Combined with the MAXbase™ system for asymmetric outrigger positioning, the crane delivers its well-known high lifting capacities even on confined job sites, often with partial counterweight – another advantage of the Grove five-axle model.
Johan Bakker, manager fleet & maintenance at Wagenborg, travelled to Manitowoc’s Breda facility to collect the crane and said:
“The GMK5250XL-1 is an excellent addition to our fleet and supports our drive towards more sustainable operations, thanks to its advanced engine technology. Our investment in this crane brings both strength and versatility, while also boosting efficiency in our day-to-day operations.”
Powering the GMK5250XL-1 is a Mercedes Benz OM471LA six cylinder diesel engine. It offers 360 kW of power at 1,600 rpm, while a maximum torque of 2,600 Nm is possible at 1,300 rpm. It’s paired with a Mercedes G 280 transmission offering 16 forward and two reverse gears.
In addition to its impressive powertrain, the GMK5250XL-1 provides the mobility and flexibility that Wagenborg Nedlift needs. Its compact dimensions make traveling through urban areas effortless. Operators also benefit from a premium working environment, which includes a 20° tilting superstructure cab, a suspended seat, and the intuitive CCS crane control system. These features ensure smoother handling and greater precision, resulting in consistently positive feedback from the crane operating team.
Wagenborg Nedlift is a leading provider of crane and heavy-lift logistics as well as transport solutions in the Netherlands, Germany, and other European markets. With a modern fleet, strong safety culture, and a clear focus on efficiency and sustainability, Wagenborg Nedlift delivers lifting and transport projects for industry, construction, and infrastructure – from planning to execution, all from one source.
